Ban on sale of ‘heritage objects’

HimVani

Shimla: In order to preserve and protect artifacts of cultural and historical importance, the language and culture department of Himachal Pradesh has barred sale of such objects by even private owners, besides all government agencies. To begin with, the rule would be applicable to all manuscripts, documents and even photographs of historical importance.  The department is already providing financial help to preserve buildings declared heritage structures. The department is also planning to carry out a survey to identify heritage buildings, and to create awareness among people regarding the importance of preserving our heritage.
