Shimla:A demonstration was held outside the office of Shimla municipal corporation by CPI(M) to protest against the civic body’s failure to provide adequate drinking water to the city.Speakers at the demonstration accused the MC of not maintaining the old water supply system, not being able to influence people to undertake rainwater harvesting and making no efforts to tap perennial sources of water to supplement the present supply system.
They said that extent of failure of MC could be gauged from the fact that the high court had to intervene in the matter and form a committee to ascertain whether residents were getting water or not.
