HimVani

Shimla: Understanding the workforce problem of industry in Himachal, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is planning to upgrade at least 20 out of 50 industrial training institutes (ITIs) in the state. Out of these, nine will receive a grant of Rs 1.6 crore under a United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) and the remaining 11 will get interest-free loan of Rs 2.5 crore from the Centre. While the TVS Group has agreed to sponsor Nalagarh ITI, Horological Computers will take overĀ  Kasauli ITI, Kangra Herbs - Palampur ITI and Herb Peripherals - Hamirpur ITI.
The industry will be involved in redesigning courses according to industry needs, introducing new courses and hiring new faculty.
Earlier, CII had announced to set up a career counselling centre at Mandi, which would be launched in August this year. The centre would provide career counselling to around 3000 final year students from 23 degree/engineering colleges the state.

This indeed is good news. With public private partnership we can expect some outcomes from the effort. Specially when the private sector sees some returns in investing in the workforce.

This would indeed help a lot as infrastructure in some of the ITI’s is next to none. This would give a boost to the inmates of the ITI’s to look in the eye of corporate world and feel what is happening outisde.
