Chamba: India’s first Cambridge University centre would come up in Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh, according to sources. The process of location and signing the pact has been finalised and the permission for starting the construction is being sought from the government.
The university would come up on a 42-acre plot, near Maihla village here and would cost approximately Rs 400 crore. Former Mizoram Governor, Amolak Rattan Kohli, has been put in charge to see the construction and facilitation of the university.
Earlier, the university was proposed to come up in Solan district. Thanks to its industrial area status, Solan was given a miss and the sleepy village of Maihla was selected.
According to sources, the university would have courses in engineering and computer sciences at par with the Cambridge University.

This is indeed a good news, Himachal offers environment and space for setting up world class educations institutions. I hope more such institutions come to HP. This will also bring new opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
