Rural job guarantee scheme for all districts

Shimla: The National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme will shortly be implemented in all districts of the state. currently, the scheme is being implemented in Chamba, Kangra, Mandi and Sirmour districts. A spokesperson of the government said job cards have already been issued to one lakh households, including 32,487 scheduled caste and 20,502 scheduled tribe homes. He said the main objective of the scheme was to free rural India from poverty and reduce migration from rural areas. The other objective was to empower women, create productive assets in rural areas, empower panchayats and create a more equitable social order by changing power equations in the rural society.
