Panchayat in HP uses CD to voice its concerns
HimVani
Mandi: A panchayat in Mandi district is making good use of technology to make the authorities listen to villagers’ voice. Protesting against the government’s decision to build a power grid station at Banala village, the local panchayat has now come with a CD showing how cutting of around 600 trees there would be detrimental to the ecology of the place. Copies of the CD have been sent to the Congress as well as Bharatiya Janata Party. It has been alleged that officials have vested interests in the project as wooden houses owned by people close to them had come up there within no time. The 42-minute CD also has a speech delivered by Sunderlal Bahuguna while he was at Banala.
