RitaShimla: The Himachal Chapter of Society for Disability and Rehabilitation Studies (SDRS) has appealed for an O+ve (O positive) kidney donor for a 25-year old poor woman, Rita, a resident of Krishna Nagar, Shimla.

Daughter of Dev Raj, a retired sweeper, Rita is suffering from kidney failure and is under treatment at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Science (PGI),Chandigarh. She, along with her mother and a younger brother, is staying there in a Sarai at PGI (Room No. 2, Janta Sarai, Rotary Sarai, PGI, Chandigarh) for the last one year.

“Her father too cannot work and earn due to locomotor disability and heart problem. Her mother used to do petty jobs in houses in Shimla, but now she is serving her ailing daughter at Chandigarh. Her younger brother Sonu (18) had to leave his studies due to these problems and he too is with her,” Ajai Srivastava Chairman, SDRS told HimVani.

Srivastava informed that while Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Virbhadra Singh has assured to meet the total expenses – of about Rs 2 lakh – of the transplant from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, it’s the wait for a donor that’s taking the toll on Rita.

She has to go for dialysis three times a week costing Rs 1500/- each time apart from expenses occurring in medicines etc. Kidney donors or money donors are hereby requested to contact Mr Ajai Srivastava, Chairman, Himachal Chapter of Society for Disability and Rehabilitation Studies, # 3, Himalaya Apartment, Kasumpti, (Near Goldy General Store) Shimla-171009.
