While in Himachal, ask for the cash memo

Shimla: Dhabawallas in Shimla would now have to provide a Cash Memo for the sale of tea/coffee/cold drinks and other snacks. The order has been passed by the DC Office Shimla to prevent fleecing of tourists.

The dhabas would have to mandatorily put up a Rate List prominently as per the rates fixed by the district administration.

The rates for Tea and Samosa (single piece) have been fixed at Rs 3.50 and Rs 4 respectively. Besides, a diet of Parmal Rice-one Dal-one Vegetable has been fixed at Rs 25. Similarly, the rate for Chicken Curry and Mutton Curry (minimum five pieces) has been fixed at Rs 42 and Rs 45 per plate respectively. A Dal Fry would come for Rs 16. Plain Paratha and Stuffed Paratha would not exceed Rs 5 and Rs 7 respectively. A plate of Seasonal Vegetable/Plain Dal would cost Rs 8. Raita too would come for Rs 8. Maximum price for two Pooris/Bhatura with Vegetable has been fixed at Rs 15. And a plate of Chana-Samosa at Rs 10.

All cold drinks would have to be sold at the printed rate.

Prices for milk (per litre), curd (per litre), and paneer (per kg) have also been fixed at Rs 18, Rs 22, and Rs 110 respectively. However, boiled milk per litre would cost Rs 20 (without sugar) and Rs 22 (with sugar).
The new rates will apply with immediate effect.

Rates for raw meat have also been fixed. While mutton in Rampur, Rohru and Chopal would cost Rs 120 per kg, it would be Rs 5 cheaper at other places in the district. Dressed chicken and broiler would cost Rs 70 and Rs 80 per kg respectively. But live chicken and broiler would come for Rs 50 and Rs 60 per kg respectively. Meanwhile, Grade A fish would come for Rs 60 per kg; and Grade B fish for Rs 55 per kg.

However, these rates would not apply to restaurants and hotels registered under the Tourism Department.
