Names of injured, dead in Himachal accident

Shimla: Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has expressed grief over the Kiari bus accident. He met the injured in Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla. According to Tarun Kapoor, Deputy Commissioner, the district administration has provided immediate relief of Rs 5,000 each to the families of the dead and Rs 2,000 each to the injured. Meanhwile, the CM has announced a compensation of Rs 75,000 to the families of those who died in the accident and Rs 15,000 to the injured.  He also instituted a magisterial inquiry into the cause of accident.

Among the 19 dead is Govind (35), the bus conductor. According to Prem Chand Chaudhary, Station House Officer, Kotkhai Police Station, “according to some injured passengers on board, the bus was at a normal pace and just before the bus went down, there was some loud sound in the bus. The exact cause is not confirmed but it seems some mechanical error.”

The list of passengers who died in the accident was released by the government today afternoon. The names include:

  10. Karun (26) s/o Kalu Ram, Khodwi
  11. Shyamnand s/o Radha Ram, Pujarli
  12. Pushan Pandey (22) s/o Habbu RamMalik, Gobindpur Orissa
  13. Balia (35) s/o Ramu, Gobindpur Orissa
  14. Bhawat Rishi (24), s/o Biru Joshi, Nepal
  15. Satpal (40), s/o Man Bhahadur, Nepal

  1. I pray to the God to give strength to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss and also wish for the speedy recovery of the injured. I pray to god to give courage to those who are left behind with tears and swollen eyes .Sometimes God is cruel why this pain

    This brings us back to the some points discussed under the above HRTC thread.

    Bring private bused under the ambit of public saftey act. Make sure that those private owners who neglect maintenance of vehicles (buses, trucks) driving under govt alloted routes is treated a congizable offense.

    Saftey first and Safety last should be the motto.

    Random checking of vehicle fitness certificates be done across board and HP govt should allot more resources to monitor vehicles. Make more seats of RTO(Regional transport Officer) and his/her associates.
