Farmers to gheraoe Himachal Vidhan Sabha

Shimla: Farmers from around 16 gram panchayats across Himachal Pradesh have decided to gheraoe the state Vidhan Sabha on April 3, to protest against government’s inaction in dealing with wild animal menace in their areas.
To be led by Kheti Bachao Sangharsh Samiti, the protest will also be supported by Jan Vigyan Samiti, Himachal Kissan Sabha and Bharatiya Kissan Sabha.
Farmers have been demanding right to protect their crops from wild animals by way of change in the Wildlife Act, sterilisation of monkeys and compensation for farmers whose crops were damaged by wild animals. The Jan Vigyan Samiti has also been running a signature campaign in this regard. Earlier too farmers had been holding rallies calling for declaring animals like boars, blue bull and monkeys as vermin.
