Himachal govt amends relief manual

Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government has made amendments in the Emergency Relief Manual, allowing more compensation to victims of natural calamities. The government has also allowed direct cash compensation to farmers for damaged crops.
In case of death of an individual due to a calamity, the family would be paid Rs 75,000, which was earlier Rs 50,000 for a bread-earner and Rs 25,000 for other members. In case of deformity caused in a person due to the incident, Rs 25,000 would be paid instead of Rs 15,000. For completely damaged houses, the government has fixed Rs 50,000 as compensation and Rs 40,000 for partially damaged ones. For crop damage, Rs 500 per bigha would be paid in case of more than 75% damage. Loss of buffalo or cow would also be compensated with Rs 10,000.
