Himachal govt approves CPS, PS posts; petrol cheaper

Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh cabinet in its meeting held on Tuesday approved creation of eight posts of Chief Parliamentary Secretaries and four posts of Parliamentary Secretaries. It also approved reduction in VAT on petrol and diesel, which has now made the two fuels cheaper by Rs 2 and 1, respectively.
Other decision:
l  Sanction granted for filling up of 1,168 posts of various categories in different departments which included 900 posts of home guards, 175 posts of assistant sub-inspectors, 40 radiographers, 23 posts at Central Testing Laboratory, Kandaghat, 13 posts of different categories in State Commission and District Forums, 11 posts of drivers besides reviving the six abolished posts of the assistant town planners.
l  The cabinet decided to adopt Retention Policy for the entire state which shall be applicable within the HIMUDA jurisdictions. The construction carried up to June 30, 2006 will be regularised up to five storeys, irrespective of the number of storeys above the road. However, thereafter, on the valley side, all buildings would be required not to rise above 1.5 meter above the road and must have 45 degree slanting roofs. Time limit for receipt of applications has been extended up to February, 28, 2007 and disposal of the same shall be done by March, 31, 2007.
l  Approves 12.5 percent VAT on resin (crude pine grove), Khair, Eucalyptus and Poplar trees.
l  Value Added Tax (VAT) exemption from existing Rs 4 and Rs 2 per litre of petrol and diesel, respectively, to Rs 2 and Re 1 per litre as the prices of both the commodities have been reduced by Rs 2 and Re. 1 per litre.
l  Approves auction-cum-tender of multipurpose barriers in the state with effect from April, 1, 2007 to March, 31, 2008.
l  Decides to ‘open a new Government Millennium Polytechnic College in Chamba from next academic session with five disciplines i.e. electrical engineering, electronics and communication engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, mechanical engineering and computer science and engineering.
l  Approves upgradation of four posts of senior scale stenographers to that of personal assistants in the offices of presidents of District Forums at Shimla, Mandi, Kangra and Una.
l  The Cabinet approved amendments in the recruitment and promotion rules for the post of controller (Weights and Measures) Class-I, gazetted and personal assistant, Class-II in the Food and Civil Supplies Department, legal assistant, Class-II in Labour and Employment Department.
l  Sanctioned two ambulances for Trauma Centre at IGMC, Shimla. It also decided to grant land on lease basis for 99 years to Sacred Heart Convent School, Tara Hall, Shimla,
