Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh cricket team created history for itself by winning the plate level Ranji trophy final defeating Orissa in their home state on Thursday. Before that, the team had already qualified for the super league matches this year, which would also be the first time for the state.

The team’s new status would mean that players from Himachal would now be watched for selection for Team India.

Set an easy target of 55 run on the final day, Himachal won the match by losing just one wicket. Earlier, starting from their last day’s score of 202 for eight, Orissa were bundled out for 215 in 55.4 overs. In their first innings, Himachal had scored a lead of 160 runs.
