Himachal govt to evaluate drought damage

HimVani

Shimla: The state government has asked for reports from all districts on damage caused to crops by dry weather conditions prevailing in the state. Unlike earlier predictions, the state has received very less snowfall and rain this winter, which has led to widespread damage to Rabi crops. As per initial evaluations, the situation is not better than last year when the damage was evaluated at around 50 percent. The state has also experienced heavy frost these winters, which has led to widespread damage to cash crops like cabbage, potato, garlic, peas, onion. Even fruit orchids have been hit by diseases like woolly aphid.
