Dharamshala Update

It’s been few days since I am in Dharamshala. I have come back after a gap of six months, which probably is not much for many of our friends who have been away for ages now.

One good thing this time is that it rains almost daily here. Though this is against the nature due to changing weather trend but I am enjoying such heavy rain showers after a long time.

This time, the summer festival had good artists. It was a three day long festival, with artists like Abhijeet, Anuj Sharma and Harbhajan Mann being the star performers. I could only attend the last day’s show, which was Mr Mann. Police ground was full of people and it was difficult to even stand in the crowd. The sound system was pathetic so all we could get to hear was out of sync equipment and little of the singer himself. One improvement over last few years was the installation of two video screens close to the ground stands.

Another development is that Bajaj Allianz has opened shop here, so one can see a lot of their employees moving around in Blue neck ribbons and I-cards.

Tata indicom is the next mobile player to enter Himachal and has also setup operations in Dharamshala.

District library has been moved from Kotwali Bazaar to Kachehri Adda. It is now opposite to the Zila Parishad Hall. Membership fee is Rs 200/- which is refundable.

The old Charan Khud bridge has been replaced by a new bridge and the vehicles no longerhave to wait for their turn to cross the bridge, as it used to be.

Rest all seems to be the same. Sleepy as ever. Sometimes I wonder what drives the economy of this place?
