HP registers first death due to H1N1 in the new year

    Shimla  (Jan 10) Swine flu claimed first life in the new year in Himachal Pradesh, as 18 yrs old girl died on Saturday, tested positive for (H1N1) later.

    The victim was brought in emergency to IGMC here on Thursday, Medical Specialists confirmed.

    State Disease Surveillance Officer, Vinod Mehta told Himvani, today that death could have been averted, if patient was not brought in a critical condition at IGMC Hospital. Her test was positive for H1N1, when she had already died.

    The girl with symptoms of high grade fever was brought from Theog area of this district on Thursday and was shifted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and despite the best efforts of the doctors could not be saved, said Mehta.

    The immediate family of the victim has been isolated and preventive treatment given to all those who came in close contact with her recently, said the surveillance officer.

    He said that this is first isolated case of Swine flu that surfaced after long time in the state. More than 25 patients died of H1N1 in the state during last years.

    1. Oreganol (oil of oregano) is great for warding off flu and colds. It helps build up the immune system, so well worth taking. Especially, if like me, you prefer to take a more natural approach. I wouldn’t want to have a vaccine, as I think they weaken your immune system over the long run.
