Shimla (Dec 24): The forthcoming local bodies election in Himachal Pradesh would be a referendum against the misrule of state Bharatiya Janata Party government, Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee President Kaul Singh Thakur said this while addressing media persons here today.

He charged the current regime in the state of misusing the government machinery by making mockery of electoral process alleging that some ministers were openly using government vehicles for campaigning. Condemning officers allegedly behaving like BJP workers and agents who were openly supporting its candidates during the polls, he threatened that they would be shortlisted by the Congress.

He further alleged that nominations of Congress back candidates were being wrongly rejected on political ground while favoring BJP back candidates despite ignoring serious charges and mistake in their nomination papers. He pointed out that panchayat pradhan from Chopal, Rajesh Kumar, had to knock the doors of the high court as his nomination had been rejected on fictitious grounds to give an edge to the BJP candidate.

Launching attack over BJP government, he charged state health secretary of announcing the Emergency Ambulance Scheme in the state, ignoring elections code and conduct. He claimed that Congress would get two-third mandate in the local bodies elections in the state despite the above facts as people have been fed up of the wrong policies of the government.
