Dharamsala: The Army cantonment board office at Yol (near Dharamsala) was raided by a team of Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) Shimla unit on Tuesday evening. This is the third time in a short span of time that CBI sleuths have visited Yol, which is an important Army area in Himachal.

The raid was in connection with a case related to use of “fake documents” for acquiring post of sanitary inspector in the cantonment board. According to Tarsem Lal, the complainant in this case, the accused, Deepak Kumar, in collusion with the board officials was promoted to the above mentioned rank with the help of fake diploma which he procured from a university based at Patna. The time during which the accused claims to have attended classes at Patna for the “fake diploma”, he was present on duty all the times.
In spite of all facts pointing towards the wrongdoing, the cantonment board officials chose to ignore everything and promoted him to the rank, ignoring his seniors and deserving candidates. Officials at the cantonment and the accused have denied the charges termed it a ploy by Tarsem Lal to divert attention from the inquiry pending against him in a disciplinary case.
