Earthquake hits parts of Himachal

Shimla: A low-intensity earthquake was felt in several parts of Himachal Pradesh in the intervening night of September 17 and 18. The epicenter of the quake was somewhere in the Hindukush mountains in Afghanistan, the met office here said.

The quake measured 6.5 on the Richter scale hit the region at 0051 hours; however, there are no immediate reports of any loss of life or property from any part of the state. The state in charge of meteorological officer Manmohan Singh told HimVani said that mild tremors were felt in several parts of north India due to its proximity to Afghanistan.
