Plethora of government schemes for the agrarians

Shimla. The state government has come up with a host of innovative schemes for the farmers of the state, which would be directed towards their economic upliftment, these were the words of Ram Subhag Singh, Secretary Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry. He further said that various subsidies and loans were being provided on minimum rate of interest to the farmers.

He was presiding over the review meeting of Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry departments at Bilaspur. He also informed that during the Gram Sabha meetings, ‘Kisan Mitras’ would be nominated who would felicitate the farmers of their areas to adopt organic farming techniques to increase their produce. They would also act as coordinator between the government and the farmers. These Kisan Mitras would be provided training within and outside the State.

The Secretary stressed the need for constructing check dams for conserving rain water.
Present in the meeting were Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Nandita Gupta and other senior officers of Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry departments.
