Shimla: According to reports, the central government has refused to extend benefits to new areas not covered under the industrial package. Sources stated that the state government had sent a proposal to the Union government to include some areas of Kangra, Mandi, Kinnaur, Chamba, Bilaspur and Sirmaur, but it did not get a favorable response. The state was offered various concessions to invite investment in industries in 2003 and the package was extended further for three years last year. It is being said that the government is now trying to hide the fact fearing panic among investors.
