Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Vedhan Sabha today approved HP Prohibition of Cow Slaughter (Amendment) Bill-2010, amending HP Prohibition of Cow Slaughter Act-1979, having a provision to ban export of cows from the state for slaughtering, besides imposing more stringent penalty on offenders.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal presented the bill for discussion and the Assembly approved amendment with voice vote without any opposition from the other side. Dhumal said that the amendment was presented in the changed circumstances as it was being felt necessary to make provisions in the old Act for prohibition of transportation of cattle for slaughter. The amendment enhanced penalty up to Rs 25,000 from the previous Rs 5,000 on the offenders.

  3. *$%^ing retards. how about banning the mistreatment of poor cows that get beaten up every ten minutes, have nowhere to feed but the local garbage dump, end up swallowing heaps of shit in the form of plastic bags, have crap engraved on them by idiots using hot rods and die a horrible death – all because they can't be milked anymore or just happen to be the wrong sex. all religious BS aside, slaughter seems to be better for these poor beasts than the slow, torturous death on the streets of India. How about doing something about that you morons? oh! that's actually ok with your vote-bank….

  5. watched anthony bourdain last night – apparently its pretty common to find beef being sold everywhere, quiet openly. locals were having beef curries etc. in restaurants and roadside shacks. contradictory on many levels.
