Language and Culture award upped to Rs 51K

Shimla: The state award money for the Language and Culture department has been enhanced from Rs 10,000 to Rs 51,000, state Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh announced here. The amount of State Academy Awards has also been increased from Rs. 11,000 to Rs. 31,000.

rajender-rajan.jpgSingh was speaking at a fucntion organised to honour Rajendra Rajan with the Chander Dhar Sharma Guleri Sahitya Samman Award for his short story collection in Hindi ‘Band Darwaze‘ and Molu Ram Thakur from Kullu with the Dr Y S Parmar state award for his Pahari book titled – Vedic Arya aur Himachal.

Rajendra Rajan is presently working as the Deputy Director, Information and Public Relation Department, Dharamshala.

The Chief Minister also released the books titled “Chamba – A Celestial Valley”, “The Temples of Himachal Pradesh” and “Himachal Pradesh Ke Sanskar Geet” brought out by the Language, Art and Culture Department on the occasion.
