Air and land traffic disrupted by fierce rains

Shimla: Moderate to heavy rainfall lashed many parts of Himachal Pradesh during the last 24 hours. Moreover thick fog and clouds covering most parts of the state disrupting air and land transport today.

According to Shashi Bhushan Sharma, airport manager of Kingfisher Airlines at Jubberhati, the lone flight between Delhi and Shimla could not operated due to bad weather. Hhowever, Kingfisher flight between Delhi and Kullu was as per its schedule.

The Hindustan-Tibet highway remained blocked for couple of hours this morning due to landsides at Devidhar in between Rampur and Kingal. Rainfall occurred at most places in the state as Nahan in Sirmour recorded 162 mm rainfall, Gohar in Mandi recorded 125 mm rain, Baijnath in Kangra 87 mm, Renuka in Sirmour 80 mm, Palampur 78 mm, Kahu in Mandi 75 mm, Naina Devi in Bilaspur 60 mm, Nalagarh in Solan 59 mm.

Kasol in Mandi 56mm rainfall, Sunni Bajji in Shimla & Kasauli in Solan 55 mm each, Sundernagar and Dharmpur in Mandi 52mm each, Kandaghat in Solan 43mm, Pachhad of Mandi 35 mm, Bangana in Bilaspur 33mm, Kotkhai in Shimla 28mm, This capital town and Baldwara of Mandi district 26 mm each, Mandi town and Pandoh 25mm. The Met office has warned heavy rainfall at isolated places in the state during next 48 hours.
