Shimla: Tourists will not be not enjoy breathtaking view at the lofty Rohtang Pass on coming Monday (June 28) as the district administration has decided to keep traffic off the Manali-Leh road due to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s trip to Kullu district to lay the foundation stone for Rohtang tunnel the same day.
The road remains officially closed for vehicular traffic on every Tuesday for repairs but on June 28 it would remain closed one day in advance. The district administration in Lahaul-Spiti has beefed up security in the region following Gandhi’s visit to the district, SR Rana, SP Lahaul Spiti said. No vehicle bound for Ladakh and Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti would be allowed beyond Kothi, about 30 km from Manali. Similarly, no traffic from Keylong towards Manali would be allowed that day.
