Eight burried alive as house collapses

Nahan: Eight labourers working with Himalayan Mineral Chemical Ltd company were buried alive in Sataun area, about 21 km from Ponta Shaib in Sirmour district, when a labour quarter collapsed over them after heavy rainfall last night, an official said today.

According to deputy commissioner Padam Chauhan, the eight labourers, ་belonging to Barabanki area of Uttar Pradesh, were sleeping in their quarter when a wall gave away at་ Sataun villager. ་The bodies of the victims have been retrieved from the debris, he said. The victims, aged between 19 and 25, were identified as Vinay Kumar, Parvesh, Ram Samuj, Gudu, Patlu, Parmood, Neeru and Harichand. Himachal government has ordered a magisterial probe into the incident announcing compensation of Rs 100,000 to the next of kin of the deceased.
