Shimla: CPI Member of Parliament and AITUC general Secretary Guru Dass Gupta has stated that All India Trade Union Confederation (AITUC) would organize a nation-wide ‘Hindustan Bhandh’ on first week of September to protest against anti-worker and anti-farmer policies of the UPA government, its failure to check violation of labour laws and controlling sky-rocketing prices.

While addressing a massive gathering of AITUC at Sabjimandi ground here today, Gupta said that women who are working as daily paid workers in the country must be given three-month maternity paid leave with Rs 3,000 in advance as they are rendered wage and workless during pregnancy, badly affecting their health and livelihood of family.
Gupta said that workers employed in mid-day meals, Asha workers, water carrier, Beri workers and construction workers should be given minimum wage of Rs 3,000 per month as it is mandatory under labour laws being violated extensively to promote interests of proletarian class to ensure their profit by restraining the real stakeholder deprived from their due wage. The CPI leader gave a clarion call to all members of AITUC to join hands to fight against the “repression being done on the working class by anti-worker policy of the UPA government.”
