    Vidya Stokes nomination rejected: Congress gets major jolt during scrutiny

    Vidya Stokes – Congress incumbent member of Assembly and IPH Minister got the major jolt as her nomination papers were rejected for Theog Assembly seat by the Returning Officer Tashi Sandup on the technical ground during scrutiny of paper today. The List issued by the RO after scrutiny said that Ms Stokes did not have the name of Ms Vidya Stokes and Deepak Kumar was enlisted as INC candidates. There is report that the papers were rejected as she did not have authentic AICC authority letter along with her nomination.

Earlier there is report that RO sought the clarification from election commission of India, however, papers were declared in violation of the prevailing rule. It is worthwhile to mention that AICC allotted official tickets to Deepak Kumar Rathore on Sunday along the list of nine candidates.

    Ms. Stokes was batting ticket for Mr. Vijay Pal Kachi son of Former late JBL Khachi before the AICC. Mr. Stokes who felled ill two days earlier reportedly taken up the issue with AICC and media reports confirmed that She called to Rahul Gandhi to change the ticket. However, on the last date of filing nomination, Ms Stokes surprised all when she turned up at the RO office and filed his nomination also on the Congress ticket.

    District Electoral Officer Mr. Rohan Chand Thakur said in a press release on Monday that Ms Stokes and Mr Deepak Kumar are to two Congress nominee who filed their papers before RO Theog. Six candidates filed their paper before the RO Theog including Mr Devi Ram as Independent, Rakesh Singha as CPI(M), Ashok Kumar Jistu as BJP candidates, Deepak Kumar Rathore and Ms Vidya Stokes as INC candidates. The final lists missed Ms stokes as the list was placed outside the RO office after scrutiny.
