Blue-eyed officers removal demanded by State unit of BJP

The State unit of BJP demanded the removal of Mr. Subhas Ahluwalia (IAS retired) who is on an extension since last five years in wake of free and fair election along with other blue-eyed officers of CM Virbhadra Singh. It is pertinent to mention that Mr. Ahluwalia is officially media advisor to the State Government and drawing the salary from the Department of Information and Public Relations.

 

In a letter written to the Chief Election Commissioner Mr. A K. Joti today, the State Coordinator of election Mr. H.N. Kashyap alleged that the BJP was informed by various agencies that Mr. Ahluwalia is missing his official position after using state machinery and influencing department concerned to the favour of Congress. To ensure free and fair polling in the State party demanded that he should be immediately removed in the large interest of democracy and public.

He also added that several others officers and officials are being stuck to their respective posts despite the party apprised the ECI in written during its state visit to Shimla recently and the commission has warned the state government to keep them away from the election and not give them any election-related duty and assignment. The party alleged that in all departments including state Public Work, state electricity board and Irrigation and Public Health etc such blue-eyed officers are still enjoying the state government plum posts despite coming in force model code of conduct.

 

The party has lodged a similar complaint on Oct 22 before the commission regarding removal of Executive Engineer State PWD, Gohar division of Mandi district after having feedback from the party sources that the officer is helping the ruling Congress party candidate to influence the election in his favour. BJP candidate from Sijraj and sitting BJP MLA Mr. Jai Ram Thakur informed the party that XEN, who is the batch mate of Congress party candidates from his constituency is trying to influence the poll in a un-partisan manner.

 

Mr. Kahsyap pointed out that as many as 3000 officers and officials are still enjoying the legacy of Congress party who are reemployed, on extension and appointed in the state government high postings after having assurance from that they would work and assists the party during the election year. For free and fair poll in the state BJP said that the services of all 3000 officers should be withdrawn forthwith in the interest of justice.
