Gudiya Gang Rape: CBI files application to seek SIT affidavits

To crack the mystery of Gudiya Gang rape and murder case Central Bureau of Investigation would move an application in Himachal Pradesh High Court tomorrow to get the personal affidavits furnished by the IG, ZH Zaidi and others. Mr. Anshul Bansal said that Special Investigation Units (SIU) probing the heinous Gang rape case would file an application to seek the copy of personal affidavits furnished by eight members of SIT before the Division Bench of Himachal Pradesh High court in the month of August.

 

Mr. Bansal said that SIT members had already submitted the personal affidavits before the HC regarding their role to sort out the case during July 10 to July 19. He said that CBI would make the plea before the Division bench of acting Chief Justice Mr Sanjay Karol and Justice Sandeep Sharma to provide the copy of affidavits submitted by the SIT members before the court recently. Including the IG ZH Zaidi, eight members of SIT is currently in CBI custody to probe the case of death of an accused Suraj in the police lock.

 

CBI maintained that SIT members were not cooperating in the investigation required all the records pertaining to the probe in the matter. Mr. Bansal also informed that agency would come up with the third status report in the court tomorrow to apprise bench about the progress made by the agency to probe the case. The Court has allowed the agency to give two week time to come up with the status report about the alleged crime as the hearing was scheduled tomorrow in the Public Interest litigation about the sensational gang rape and murder of 10 standard students on July 6 when she was returning from school.

 

CBI was probing the case for last one and half months as the probe was handed over to the agency by the court on July 19 claimed that it almost sort out the second case of death of accused in police lock up. The Court granted two week time on August 17 to the SIU to come up with the conclusive status report in the matter. On August 29 CBI has arrested eight members of SIT and state police who were posted at the Kotkhai police station where the crime took place. Eight police officials are currently in police remand by the CBI to recover case properties relating to the crime and confrontation of five accused and eight SIT member about their role in the crime.

 

State SIT has arrested about six accused on July 14 and 15 from various place in charge of Gudiya Gang rape and murder case, however, one accused died in the police custody on the intervening night of July 18 and 19 for which FIR has been lodged against SIT members by the CBI on July 23 at New Delhi. CBI has not yet given clean chit to the remaining five accused who are in Judaical lock up and handed over to the agency to conduct Narco analysis of them at New Delhi and Ahemadabad currently. CBI claimed to collect as many as 70 DNA samples of alleged accused and interrogated as many as 200 people in the case. The agency is also probing the role of money deal to cover up the crime.
