HP Assembly paid tribute to former legislator & Kotirupa landslide victims

    The Himachal Pradesh Monsoon Assembly today paid tribute to the demise of former legislator Sh. Sadand Chauhan and loss of 47 lives in Kotirupa landslides in the State on intervening night of Aug 11 and 12. As the HP Assembly assembled for the four-day Monsoon Session, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today brought a condolence motion on the demise of Sh. Chauhan who died on Jun 25, 2017 at the age of 61 in his native place at Nahan. Mr. Singh apprised the House about the unfortunate death of 47 people in the massive landslides at Kotirupa in Jogindernagar of Mandi district on Aug 11, 2017.

     

    Speaker Brij Behari Lal Butail, Mr. Singh, leader of Opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal, Gulab Singh and Rajiv Bindal paid the tributes to the departing souls. Mr. Chauhan had remained the member of State Assembly in 2003 on the ticket of Lak Janshakti party. He was known for social service and his deep interest of in horticulture activities. Mr. Gulab Singh Thakur said that 47 bodies were recovered from the landslides at Kotirupa.

     

    He said that four people belonged Joginder nagar including two Jawan who lost their lives. He said that local people have already alerted the Government on time urging to work in time, however, no action lead to the mishap. He said that such incident should not be repeated in the future and efforts should be made to avert such tragedies.
