IGMC to have ten Super Speciality Departments: Nadda

The Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) would have ten new Super Speciality Departments as Union Health Minister Mr. Jagat Prakesh Nadda laid the foundation stone at Chamiyana at the outskirt of Shimla town yesterday. Mr. Nadda said in a press statement today that super speciality block will have Departments of Neurology, Neuro Surgery, Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery, Medical Cardiology, Nephrology, Urology, Pediatric Surgery, Endocrinology, Plastic Surgery and Gastro unit.

 

The Super Specialty Block shall have nine Operation Theatres, all of which shall be equipped with camera so that students could see the live operation. It is a 280 bedded Block which comprises of 53 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or critical care beds and 30 emergency beds. The Super Specialty Block would have 9 Floors with the spread in 22,238 Square meters area Overall cost for establishing this infrastructure is Rs 213 crores (Rs 160 Crores is construction cost & Rs 53 Crores is for Medical Equipment).
