Bus fell down in deep gorge killing 26 passengers in HP

    A Kinnaur Federation public service bus on the way to Solan from Reckong peo fell down in 250 meter deep gorge and killed as many as 26 persons injuring about 8 others near Khanari of Rampur subdivision of the district at 0900 hours this morning. The Police confirmed that about 26 feared killed and eight were hospitalised as the impact of mishap caused number of fatality in the accident.

     

    DSP Rampur Dev Kumar Negi who was looking after the rescue work on the spot soon said that bodies are being evacuated and recovered on the spot. He said that about eight injured were rushed to Khanari Zonal Hospital. Some of the critical died on the way or in the hospital. During the accident about 35 passengers were boarding the bus coming to Rampur from Recong-Peo when driver lost control and bus fell down the hill near Satluj bank. The spot is hardly five kilometre away from Rampur town . Rescue teams were evacuating the bodies as it spread in 250 meter down the road.

     

    A Police officer said that this bus normally occupy by about 35 to 40 passenger daily most of local people of Kinnaur, Employees and Student. Wreckage of bus visible near the bank of Satluj rivers smashed apart under the impact of accident. Rescue operation was on as the some bodies may be recover inside or under the wreckage a police officer said. The exact causality of accident is yet to ascertained. Three critical injured were referred to IGMC Shimla. An ill-fated service ‘Kanfed’ run between Reckong peo district headquarters of tribal Kinnaur district and Dr. Y.S. Parmar Horticulture and Forestry University Naun of Solan district.

     

    Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Virbhadra Singth condoled the demise of bus passengers directing the administration to provide the necessary relief to the kins of deceased and to injured.
