BJP & ABVP bring out public procession on Gudiya gang rape

The Shimla unit of BJP and its student affiliates ABVP today blocked the vehicular traffic, bringing out the procession and submitted Memorandum during the Shimla Bandh call today hampering the normal lives in the State. The ABVP activists gathered at Deputy Commissioner Office in Shimla this afternoon and burnt down the effigy of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh alleging that Gudiay gangrape and murder case was not handled with the professional zeal by the Government and the important pieces of evidence and witnesses are being tempered.

 

The ABVP protesters brought the procession on the Mall road and it went to Police Headquarters where they sat on the Dharna and blocked the traffic on the road. BJP activists who had given the call of Shimla Bandh earlier this morning and tried to blocked vehicular traffic at Victory Tunnel, Shogi, Khalini and Dhali. After the traffic jam BJP workers came to the Ridge and staged the protest outside the Statue of Mahatma Gandhi. Later they submitted the memorandum to Himachal Pradesh Governor.

 

The BJP also held a ‘ havan’ before the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. A protest led by Karm Chand Bhatiya and Panchayat Pradhan of Chamyana Panchayat also lodged the protest out side the DC office and Scandal point. The protest was mainly peaceful. All business establishment at Shimla Mall Road, Lower Bazar and other outskirts including Sanjouli, Kasumpti, Thoeg and Kothaki remained closed today from dawn to dusk. The Bandh lasted peacefully and some of the restaurants and eaters opened after the 1600 hours.
