In wake of upcoming Assembly election in Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee, today launched ‘Pathh Yatra’. On the barely opening of the drive witnessed the bitter verbal duel between the duo of top party leader, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and State Congress Chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu. To counter BJP’s ‘Parivartan Yatra’ HPCC today came with its variants to reach the masses at all the Panchayats of the State and named it ‘Pathh Yatra’.

The exchanges between Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and State Congress President Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu today made the new battle front visible as party expected to be more offensive to the BJP before the assembly elections in the State. Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Monday surprised all feigning ignorance about the plan of the yatra. CM had said that he was not aware of any yatra but he was with the party if any such yatra was being carried out.

Mr. Sukhu reacting to the CM Virbhadra Singh’s denial about the information of Path Yatra had said earlier that he had grown old and the information might have escaped his mind. Reacting to Mr. Sukhu’s remarks, CM Virbhadra Singh in a reply to media said that he was not informed otherwise he even remember the day, when HPCC leader had seen the light of the day. The yatra was launched by State Congress president Sukhu, who showed the green flag and started yatra at Nadaun in Hamirpur. Talking to media, Sukhu said that CM was duly informed about the yatra and if there was a need, he would personally call him and inform him about the start of the yatra.

The Congress has planned to reach out to 20 lakh people in all villages to highlight the achievements of the state government and promises not fulfilled by the Modi regime at the Centre. Mr. Sukhu had said that All-India Congress Committee (AICC) vice-president Rahul Gandhi would come to Himachal to take part in the concluding rally of Pathh Yatra in the last week of August. Senior Congress leader Vidya Stokes who is minister for Irrigation and public health started similar Yatra at her assembly segment from Theog today.
