The Himachal Pradesh of Minister today decided to fix apple procurement prices at Rs 6.75 per kilogram against Rs 6.50 kg of last year under Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) estimating to record total production of 55,849 metric tones this apple season. The State Cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister Mr. Virbhadra SIngh decided to increase the MIS price by 25 paise and targeting to procure about 10 percent of the apple of total production.
The Council of Minister extending the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) for procurement of apple during the year 2017 on the analogy of previous years with a view to providing remunerative price to the fruit growers. The State agencies of Government that are HIMFED (Himachal Pradesh Marketing Federation) and HPMC (Himachal Pradesh Processing and Marketing Corporation) would procure apple at their own level. The Apple season is already under way in the State as early apple variety like Green Gold, Red Gold, Tydeman and Apple June are already in the market.
