Five days after the recovery of lynched body of forest guard hanged to a tree HP Police constitute the Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Additional SP Mandi. A press statement issued today stated that the DIG Central Range of Mandi, Asif Jalal who returns form the Central deputation in CBI is at Karsog will be closely supervising the SIT and to ensure that the investigation is carried out in a fair and impartial manner keeping all the concerned aspects of allegations.
He said that six persons have been arrested in the crime after recovery of a suicide note from the spot. He said that IO of the case is SHO Ashwani Kumar of police station Karsog under the close supervision of SP Mandi and final post mortem report and report of Regional Forensic Science lab. During the course of the investigation, sucide notes have been recovered following the arrest of six persons namely Ghanshyam Dass, Het Ram, Anil Kumar, Lab Singh, Tej Ram and Girdari Lal all belonged to Mandi district.
After receiving the information of crime DSP Sundernagar Sanjeev Bhatia rushed to the spot. Meanwhile, the team of Regional Forensic Science Laboratory Mandi also visited the spot to collect scientific evidence. The post mortem of deceased was conducted at Zonal Mandi by a team of doctors including forensic experts. Police clarified that case has been registered under Section 302 of IPC on Jun 9 under police station Karsog on the statement of Paras Ram son of Bhadhar Singh resident of Jharoti post office Janjehli of Mandi district.
The complaint alleged that his nephew namely Hoshiyar Singh of 22 yrs was serving the forest Guard in forest department. The deceased was earlier posted at Katanda beat and has been missing since June 5, 2017. The searched his nephew with the help of local police . On Jun 9 police team comprising SHO or SI Ashwani Kumar were found hanged to a tree of Devodar Garjub Jungle near Seri Katandha. The complaint suspected that Hoshiar Singh might have been murdered by forest Mafia, police added.
