11 killed in Himachal in Delhi bound bus accident

Shimla: In yet another accident, 11 people were killed and several injured till reports last came in, when a Delhi-bound bus met with an accident near Kandaghat (Solan) today.

There were about 25 passengers in the bus, when the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus, on its way to Delhi from Shimla hurtled down a hillside around 12:15 pm. The bus rolled down about 600 feet . The cause of the accident is not known yet.

Rescue and relief work at the accident site has been completed, and the injured have been rushed to Kandaghat and Solan hospitals. The seriously injured were brought to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla.

    Another one in the series of bimonthly accidents. My thoughts for those who lost their lives.

    Will we ever improve road conditions, maintenance of vehicles, impose traffic discipline ?

    Will common populace ever learn that driving is a privilege not a birth right.
