126 candidates in fray as 18 withdraw their nominations

As many as 126 candidates were left in the fray after withdrawal of 18 nominations in the Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) as the polling to be held for 34 MC Ward on Jun 16, 2017. The District Electoral Officer and Deputy Commissioner Shimla, Rohan Chand Thakur said that about 18 candidates have withdrawn the nomination and now 126 left in the fray.

 

Today the election symbols have been issued to the candidates after the 1500 hours, soon after the deadline for the withdrawal of nomination ended. Congress, BJP and CPI(M) candidates were in the fray, however, the election was being held on nonparty symbol the counting of the vote would be held on Jun 17. The term of Shimla MC ended on Jun 4 as the CPI(M) Mayor and Deputy Mayor demitted the office. There were 12 Councillors of Congres and 11 of BJP and two of CPI(M) in the last MC house.
