Development of sports is key agenda for HP: Sh. Anurag Thakur

In an attempt to promote development of sports in the State of Himachal Pradesh, Member of Parliament, Hamirpur Anurag Thakur is working towards establishing Extension Centres across various districts. 6 extension centres have been proposed across Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur & Kangra district.

 

Commenting through a press release on the extension centres and the intent to propose the same, Mr. Thakur said, “Sports is of utmost importance not only to lead a healthy lifestyle but it also helps in building the character of an individual. In view of the same, I have been in talks with Sports Authority of India for developing Extension Centres in Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Kangra district. The venue (schools, colleges, academies) and sports have been chosen keeping in mind the area, feasibility of development and following of the sport at the selected venues.”

 

He further added “As a part of the Extension Centres, Sports Authority of India will help in upgrading the infrastructure at the selected schools, colleges and academies and also provide experts to ensure proper training to the sports enthusiasts.”

 

The proposed venues along with sports across districts are as follows:

District Una
Indira Stadium, Una : Hockey
Government Senior Secondary School Khad/Nagnoli: Football

District Hamirpur
Government Degree College, Hamirpur: Athletics
Government Boys Senior Secondary School Hamirpur: Hockey

District Bilaspur
Minerva Senior Secondary School, Ghumarwin: Wrestling

District Kangra
Kapoor Badminton Academy Kangra: Badminton
