The Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Devvrat urged the Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) to focus on the sports, cultural, social welfare and extracurricular activities apart imparting quality education to students to help them for holistic development of character. Presiding over the quarterly meeting of HPU Court today, Governor said the youth represent ‘source of tremendous inherent energy’ would help for development and cause of nation building.
Mr. Devvrat directed the Physical Education department of HPU to channelize more energy of students toward sports activities especially concentrating on those residing in university hostels. Despite HPU stake claims of NAAC grade-A institution, snubbed by the Governor as its performance in the field of sports is not satisfactory. ”HPU should create academic discipline in the campus so that its product become ideal leaders, able and potential citizen with all round growth of their character.” Governor who also happens to Chancellor of HPU asserted.
Accessing the productivity of human resource coming out from the largest university of the State Governor was extremely concerned that scholars were not able to complete their research or assignment with in time frame should be persuade to complete within stipulated time and not exceed beyond the given frame. If the University Administration creates milieu of academic discipline targeting the academic activity and research time bound it would evolved the human resources coming out of University.
He directed the Vice Chancellor to schedule time frame for all academic activity adopting focus approach and result oriented framework. Being the scholar and teachers of ancient schools of Indian Gurukul thought Mr. Devvrat said that research work of scholars should not be pilled on the shelves in the University but peculate to field benefiting the society at large. Terming the Education as missionary and charitable work he pointed out that a teacher is morally and socially bound to produce the quality products as he have to shoulder this responsibility of transforming innocent child to model citizens of a nation.
Shunning the practice of bookish, prevalent plagiarism and theoretical based education system in the academic discipline Guv also gave various Tips to the faculty members to impart practical and experienced based knowledge to students so that it could transform them in their life. HPU and other affiliated institutions having notoriety of least sensitive towards the personal hygiene of students or surrounding, directed by the Governor to ensure cleanliness of campus and hostels. He asked the VC that the hostel wardens should regularly check cleanliness in the campus especially toilets and bathrooms in hostel.
