Farmers cordon HP Secretariat to press various issues

Thousands of farmers under the banner of Himachal Pradesh Kissan Sabha and HP Seb Utpadak Sangh today cordon the State Secretariat braving inclement cold waves and rain. The protest led by Himachal Pradesh Kissan Sabha President Dr. Kuldeep Tanwar and General Secretary of Seb Utpadak Sangh Mr. Rakesh Singh also handed over a memorandum to Chief Minister Mr. Virbhadra through his cabinet Minister Ms. Vidya Stokes.

 

The farmers were seeking regularization of encroachment of small and marginal farmers, providing of relief to the stray and wild animal affected peasantry and implementation of Justice Kuldeep Sood verdict about allotment of lands to farmers. A number of members of Shimla Upnagariay Jan Kalayan Samiti also participated in the protest to support demands of the farmers and protest against the State Government for evading the people of merged area of Shimla and other townships who were not given due benefit under the recently amended Town and Country Planning Act.
