Rs 1 Lakh to National bravery award recipient of HP

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh announced a sum of rupees one lakh for Praful Sharma of Sarkaghat, the recipient of National Bravery Award 2016. Student of class 8th of Lords Convent School, Sarkaghat, Praful Sharma averted a major accident for his exemplary presence of mind in applying brakes when his school bus started moving downhill last year with around 15 children in the bus.

 

While returning from Dharamshala from educational tour, they stopped for a short break near Dharampur in Mandi district. The Driver alighted from the bus. Suddenly the bus started moving down the hill. Praful who was on the bus, rushed and jumped into the driver’s seat, applied the brakes and stopped the bus. His prompt action and sense of duty saved the precious lives.

 

The Chief Minister lauded the child for the courage he had shown and announced to give him a sum of rupees one lakh for his action.
