Hindustan Tibet National highway open for vehicular traffic

After keeping off for last 10 days the Hindustan Tibet National Highway was throw open for vehicular traffic as the District administration claimed here in a press communique the traffic was diverted via Dhami and Basantpur to Rampur and Kinnaur district. It was snowbound between tourists resort Kufri, Theog, Narkanda and near Kumarsen in the district.

 

Deputy Commissioner Shimla Mr. Rohan Chand Thakur said that heavy machinery took almost ten days to clear the roads as it was disrupted by the heavy snowfall on Jan 6 and 7 and Jan 15 and 16 respectively. However State transport, Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) did not resume its service on the route and continues to use the the diversion to facilitate its services.  As many as 25 link road in Rampur and Kumersen subdivision are continue under snow and efforts are being made to clear the snow to open it soon.

 

The snow bound Shimla-Theog-Gumma-Rohru and Chopal roads have been cleared today and light vehicles started plying on the routes as snow was cleared from Kharapather and Khirki today. He said that snowbound road between from Shimla to Theog and Theog to Narkanda and Theog to Kotkhai and Kotkhai to Kharpather was cleared today.

 

The District administration claimed that it had opened Rohru-Haridwar, Rohru-Jubbal road for vehicular traffic. Light vehicles were plying between Rohru and Kotkhai. It had claimed that power supply is restored in most places in the snowbound areas.
