4 workers buried alive during road construction in HP

    Four workers engaged for road construction at Puna village under Kashpat Gram Panchayat of Rampur in Shimla district were buried alive under a landslide last evening. The bodies of the deceased were evacuated from the boulders this noon after overnight rescue operation launched by the Administration, a senior officer of police informed.

     

    The Deputy Superintendent of Police Rampur, Mr. Som Dutt told Himvani that the deceased were identified as Ajay, Lokinder, Devinder and Ram Bahadur, all hailed to Nepal. He said that during construction of the Pona Dogri road they buried under sudden landslide around 1700 hour last evening. The rescue parties from Rampur rushed to the spot and launched evacuation work last night and succeed to trace out all the bodies till 1200 hours today.

     

    The victims hired by a contractor came under the sudden landslide when they were under it. The rescue party had to brave extreme cold, inclement weather and rain in region delayed the evacuation of bodies. Executive Engineer Mr. K. Kaushal who was on the spot told that the victims were hired by the contractor Rajinder Negi and action would be taken against him if he is found guilty for any laxity safety norms. After the postmortem bodies were handed over to their relative.
