All 112 PDS Godawns made online in HP, digital Ration-cards soon

All 112 Public Distribution System (PDS) Godawns belonging to Himachal Pradesh Civil Supply Corporation State unit have been made online to facilitate Depot holders to check the availability and book their order to ensure uniform supply of ration further to all consumers in the Hill State. Moreover to plug the pilferage during the supply novel idea of issuing digital Ration cards to about 16 lakh house holders to unveil soon, this was stated by Minister for Food, Consumer affairs and Civil Supply Mr. G.S.Bali while addressing media persons today.

 

Mr. Bali who also holds the portfolio of Technical Education and Transport Department said that HPCSL has linked all PDS Godawns online which facilitate the depot holders to check the availability of food items from their places besides they could book order to supply them to further distribute it to consumers without delay and in uniform manner. He said that HSCSL also cleared tenders to supply digital ration cards to all ration card holders to get rid off the old and worn out ration cards which had helped to reduce the duplicate and fake ration cards moreover it would plug the pilferage in the supply ensuring availability of genuine beneficiary.

 

Mr.Bali said that HPCSL has signed an MOU with the public sector, Steel Authority of India (SAIL) to provided subsidized or low cost ‘steel-bars’ to people acting as dealer of SAIL at Poanta-Sahib of Sirmaur district, Ghumarwin of Bilaspur, Chamba, Nurpur, Nagrota-Bagwan of Kangra and Una. HPCSL is also distributing ‘free school uniform’ under ‘Mukhyamantri Uniform Yojana’. He said that it has supplied uniform to as many as 178582 students belonging to 10 plus one and two and 7.10 lac students of high school level, respectively this year.

 

The Minister denied reports that appeared in media on behalf of Opposition leaders that there was shortage of day to day food items in the state. He assured that the State would continue to provide low cost essential commodities through PDS. He informed that it had invited tenders to supply PDS quota of Levy Sugar for the month of December and January.

 

To plug and check the supply of adulterated and superiors food items in the markets, he said that Department of Civil Supply and Consumer affairs were keeping strong tab on it. Mr. Bali said that it had acted swiftly to curb such illicit traders as 9000 samples have been seized along Rs. 9 lakh adulterated and superiors products. Weight and Measure Department also conducted 4835 raids in the shops slapping 408 challan and recovering Rs. 63 lac penalties from the violators.
