HP Governor calls on PM Narendra Modi

    The Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Devvrat called on Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today at New Delhi and discussed various social and development issues pertaining to Himachal Pradesh.

    He thanked the Prime Minister for accepting various developmental projects of the State including Leh rail project which was important from strategic point of view and giving financial clearance for different other works. He said that there was tremendous scope of tourism in the State and efforts were being done by the State government in this direction.

    Acharya Devvrat apprised Prime Minister that various campaign of social concern like environment protection, cleanliness, cow rearing, Zero Budget Natural Farming, “Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao” were being carried out in the State at a large scale and efforts were being made to give them shape of a mass movement.

    The Governor also apprised that he had taken a special initiative for environment protection under which clusters of five villages would be formed in the State and the plantation drive would be undertaken on massive scale on special occasions. He said that this endeavour would go a long way to increase the green cover of the State.

    The Prime Minister appreciated initiatives taken by the Governor and also congratulated him for associating more people with awareness campaigns. He assured all cooperation to the State for undertaking these social activities.
