Muslim sub-castes out of OBC Lists: HP HC seeks reply within 4 weeks

    After missing the name of minority sub-caste or Muslim community from state OBC lists, the Himachal Pradesh High Court today issued notice to the State of Himachal Pradesh seeking reply on the issue pertaining to implementation of recommendations made by the Center as well as H.P. State Commission for Backward classes and including Muslims beneficiaries.

    Seeking reply within four weeks of this order, the Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Sandeep Sharma passed these orders on a written petition filed by All Himachal Muslim Welfare Society.

    The petitioner alleged in the petition that it is requesting the State Government to include the names of some sub category, sub castes or profession of Muslim Categories in the stare list of OBC since year, 1999. It was also mentioned in the petition that as per the recommendation of the 64th State Commission for backward class the claim of inclusion of Muslim sub caste or communities in the state list i.e Teli, Julaha/Kabir Panthi, Lohar and Jogi.

    Despite giving various representations the State has not implemented the recommendation made by the Center as well as the H.P. State Commission for Backward classes and including Muslim sub Caste/Communities in the state list of OBC. The matter would be heard on September 14, 2016.
