Painted body pair calls for vegan meals

    Two members of People for Ethical Treatment of Animal (PETA) today drew the attention of the people of Shimla town to promote the vegetarian meals ahead of earth day today with the message to not opt for non-vegetarian meal stating that it causes more pollution.

    Member of PETA Ms. Neerja Khede said that the pair of their activists painted their body with blue and green colour to resemble them with the earth who took the street at the crowded place Town hall of Shimla Municipal Corporation.

    She said that the display was to promote for cause of pollution and greenhouse gas emission bearing sign boards displaying slogan ” Save the Earth -Try Vegan ” .

    “The duo with this display in the public was to protect the environment to choose delicious plant-based meals discarding the non-vegan. ” she emphasized that when it comes to a serious source of pollution whether it be on land or in the air or water – the meat and dairy industries are culpable.

    ” PETA calls to do more for the environment to drop meat and dairy food now. ” she said adding that the United Nations concluded that raising animals for food is one of the top two to three most significant contributors to the most serious environmental problems at every scale from local to global.

    Urging the people to shift towards a vegan diet is necessary to combat the worst effects of climates change, Ms. Khede urged.

    According to the report published by the World Watch Institute an estimated 51 percent of worldwide greenhouse gas emissions are attributable to agriculture, specialty raising cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats, camels, pigs and poultry to be killed and used for food .

    UN reports said that meat, egg and dairy industries account for staggering 65 percent of worldwide nitrous oxide emissions -nitrous oxide is about 300 times more potent as climate change gas than carbon dioxide.
