Three-day conference on Himalayan environment

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh University’s Institute of Integrated Himalayan Studies (IIHS) will organise a three-day conference on Himalayan environment at the university campus from March 22 to 24.  Disclosing this, director of IIHS SP Bansal told media persons that noted environmentalists Vandana Shiva, and geologist RK Ganjoo would address the delegates.

He said that other experts participating in this conference are R B Goel from Chandigarh, SP Singh from Garhwal University, P Chaudhary form Nepal, Subashish Panda from HPTDC, Manmohan Singh from Met Dept, Shimla, and SP Bhardwaj from horticulture university, Solan. He said that delegates from 200 Panchayati Raj Institutions, number of NGOs and officers of Himachal Pradesh forest, science and environment departments are likely to participate in the conference.
